About Beth

Always an artist, Beth has been painting since she was old enough to hold a paintbrush. Art has been an essential element and focus in her life. The artist graduated from Carnegie-Mellon University with a BFA in illustration and painting and continued her art education at Parson’s School of Design. Beth has licensed her designs onto a variety of products including greeting cards and stationary items, fabric, inspirational books, garden accessories, and home decor. Now, most of the artist’s days are spent creating fine-art paintings in her light-filled studio in Mamaroneck, NY. “Art has always been a way for me to express myself and to create various worlds to get lost in. I’m particularly inspired by lush landscapes, flowers growing wild and rich, dramatic color palettes. If I’m able to add a bit more beauty to our world then I feel like I’ve accomplished what I set out to do.”

A Bit About Beth’s Process:

With the main purpose in composing work that speaks in color, the artist creates her images by building layers of paint in gestural ways to start and then focuses in on the areas that she would like to add details to. Through this process, a color-rich work is achieved and a completed image that reveals depth and richness of hues and tones. “My aim is to have my paintings reveal more and more depth of color the longer the viewer studies the piece. I love when a little pop of chartreuse is unexpectedly noticed beneath the surface of a crimson patch or a bit of peach pops up below a soft blue in the sky.” With the use of heavily pigmented acrylic paints in opaques and translucent washes, the artist achieves her goal.
